Executive Tours DC Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Where should I stay in Washington, DC?

A - DC has many great neighborhoods and excellent transportation, but you will probably want to be in walking distance from the National Mall. You might also be interested in hotels near Dupont Circle, which is right next to Embassy Row. Across the Taft Bridge, Connecticut Avenue has several fine hotels that are popular convention locales. By contrast, Adams Morgan has restaurants but no hotels.

Q - How much does it cost to stay in Washington, DC?

A - No way to hide it, Washington, DC is an expensive city. But no need to stay at the Hay Adams ($400-$3500), or even the Washington Hilton where Reagan was shot ($270-$350--although the HiIton sometimes has deals for $150 or under). There are so many hotels, you might choose the 1920s era Hamilton Crowne Plaza, right downtown, and only $130 a night. To find the hotel that is right for you, check out our hotel links.

Q - Is it easy to get around DC to see the sites?

A - Not really. The city has a wonderful Metro system and plenty of buses, but the National Mall--where so many of the sites are located--is 2 miles long with no public transport. Not to mention the many wonders of Capital Hill, which is above the Mall. Across the Potomac, there are also wonderful things to see--such as the impressive Iwo Jima Marine Memorial, Arlington Cemetery (with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the the Kennedy brother graves), and George Washington's home at Mt. Vernon (16 miles away--but a Must See!).

Q - How long does it take to see DC?

A - Probably a lifetime. DC is almost too rich in monuments, museums, cultural events, historical sites, neighborhoods, architectural wonders, restaurants, shops, and haunts of famous people. When you are planning your trip, let us know, and we will help you pick the tour for you.
